13th Australian Citizenship Ceremony hosted by WAMCI on Sunday, 12 June 2016

Acquiring Australian citizenship is a public declaration of commitment to Australia. It is the beginning of the formal membership of the Australian community and is a privilege that offers enormous rewards.

Citizenship is also the step that enables migrants to say, “I am Australian” and provides a sense of belonging allowing full participation in all aspects of Australia’s unique life. 

Eddie Lei, Citizenship Committee Chair, World Arts and Multi-Culture Inc (WAMCI) is himself a migrant from Taiwan and now an Australian citizen. “I know first hand the importance and significance Australian citizenship bestows” Eddie shared while reflecting that: “Australia is a wonderful country, rich in cultural harmony and diversity. Taking the pledge to become a citizen of Australia was one of the happiest days of my life. ”

Under the guidance of MC Lewis Lee OAM, the Community Leader and also Life Honorary Advisor of WAMCI, this will be the 13th Australian Citizenship Ceremony hosted by WAMCI at Robertson Gardens on Sunday, 12 June 2016 to celebrate Queensland Week.

Mr. Graham Perrett MP, Federal Member for Moreton will be the Presiding Officer over the event and  will be joined by other official party/VIP Guests like Hon. Mark Bailey MP (Minister for Main Roads, Road Safety and Ports, Minister for Energy, Biofuels and Water Supply, also State Member for Yeerongpilly); Mr. Peter Russo MP (State Member for Sunnybank); Mr. Duncan Pegg MP (State Member for Stretton); Cr. Kim Marx (Councillor for Runcorn Ward); Assistant Commissioner Bob Gee (Queensland Police Service); Ismail Cajee (President, Islamic Council of Queensland) and Na Yu (Director/Publisher of First Media).

The Robertson Gardens Australian Citizenship Ceremony will see 80 candidates from 29 diverse countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Congo, Denmark, Eritrea, Ethiopia, HKSAR of the PRC, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vietnam and Zimbabwe take formal allegiance to Australia.

Reflecting on being part of this Ceremony Eddie Lei said: “I am aware of the joy an Australian Citizenship Ceremony provides to so many people and their families and I cherish this great honour of being able through WAMCI to be part of assisting with this important step in a new life for so many”.

This event is supported by the Lord Mayor's Suburban Initiative Fund.

On Tuesday, 26 January 2016 (3:00p.m.)  WAMCI hosted the Australian Citizenship Ceremony to celebrate Australia Day at Robertson Gardens. The Robertson Gardens Citizenship Ceremony saw 86 New Citizens from 27 diverse countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Britain, China, Egypt, England, Finland, Gibraltar, HKSAR of The PRC, India, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Macau Special Admin Region, New Zealand, Pakistan, Portugal, Philippines, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom & U.S.S.R.

The Sound of Taiwan 2015 Evergreen Symphony Orchestra Australian Debut

 
Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO) with 70-person was established in 2002 by Evergreen Group’s Chang Yung-Fa Foundation. 
 
It is one of the renowned International Orchestras to cultivate the talent of Musicians and Artists.
 
Since establishment of ESO, it continues to spread the beauty of classical music and Taiwanese folk songs to International arena.
 
ESO has been successfully as the musical ambassador in promoting international cultural exchanges over the past few years. 
 
The Group has performed more than 600 concerts in 28 different cities including the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and 2012 Ravanna and Ravello Festival in Italy.
 
ESO will be performing with the Theme “The Sound of Taiwan 2015” at the iconic Sydney Opera House on 12 July 2015 as well as at Brisbane City Hall on 14 July 2015. It will be hosted by World Arts & Multi-Culture Inc. (WAMCI). 
 
The purposes of WAMCI are via demonstration, research and information on national and regional and multi-cultural and artistic achievements, performance of the multi-cultural arts activities to enhance the exchange of arts.
 
Harmonnia Junus, an Australian born Violinist who has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia will be performing an impressive and heart-rending traditional Chinese love story, "Butterfly Lovers", a violin concerto.  
 
In addition, Cin Lin Miu, Bamboo Flutist will be performing Mr. Shui-Long Ma's Bamboo Flute concerto at Sydney Opera House and Brisbane City Hall.
